Terms and Conditions

Effective from: 1st December 2025

Welcome to Family Law Service, operated by Family Legal Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). By purchasing our services, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. General Information

Family Legal Ltd, trading as Family Law Service, provides fixed-fee legal support services. We are not a regulated legal services provider, although some elements of our services (such as solicitor-led legal advice) are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Where a service is regulated, this will be clearly stated.

2. Services Offered

a. Court Form Completion, Bundles & Case Advice

  • You will be contacted by an expert McKenzie Friend within 3 working days of purchase.
  • This is a non-regulated support service.

b. Legal Advice (Solicitor-Led)

  • You will be sent a financial information form, which must be completed and returned.
  • Once received, the solicitor will book a 1-hour phone call.
    • 40 minutes will be used for discussion.
    • 20 minutes will be used to prepare a written legal advice report.
  • This written report can be used to demonstrate that legal advice has been received (often required by courts, mediators, financial advisors, etc.).

c. AI Barrister Review

  • Our AI Barrister tool is trained on 20+ years of family law case law.
  • Financial data is not stored.
  • While useful for guidance, the AI Barrister does not constitute formal legal advice.
  • If the AI provides an inaccurate or erroneous response, we will offer a full refund. However, refunds are not given where we believe the tool worked correctly.

d. Consent Order Drafting (Online, Classic, Premium)

  • Orders are drafted by experienced paralegals, not solicitors.
  • You will need to submit the final documents to court yourself.
  • The package includes:
    • Draft Consent Order
    • Form A
    • D81
  • You must provide accurate and complete information.
  • Suitable only if:
    • You are in full agreement with the other party.
    • You do not have more than one property, complex pension sharing, overseas assets or spousal maintenance.
  • We reserve the right to reject drafting if:
    • The case is too complex for our service.
    • We believe the order may be rejected by the court.
    • We suspect coercion or manipulation.
    • Both parties are not willing to sign a clean break consent order.

3. Refund Policy

  • You have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of purchase.
  • To request a refund, you must contact us in writing at hello@familymediationservice.co.uk
  • You may waive your right to a refund if you wish us to begin work immediately. This will be clearly offered during the checkout process.
  • If work has already begun, or services delivered (in part or full), you will not be entitled to a refund unless a fault or error can be demonstrated.
  • For AI Barrister, refunds are only offered if a genuine error is made by the tool.

4. Disclaimer

  • Our non-solicitor services (e.g., McKenzie Friend support, form completion, consent order drafting) are not regulated by the SRA.
  • We clearly identify which services are regulated.
  • Family law is complex and outcomes can vary. It is common to receive differing advice from different legal professionals.
  • We recommend using our services as part of your overall approach to resolving family issues. Always consider professional legal advice for complex or contested matters.
