Jess is the co-founder of Family Law Service, bringing her creativity and empathy to building a platform that makes expert legal support more accessible to families going through divorce or separation.

Alongside this role, Jess is Director of Client Strategy at Mediate UK, where she has helped shape the firm into one of the UK’s top-rated family mediation services. With a background in mediation, communications and client care, she has developed tools, resources and client journeys that empower families to feel supported and confident in their decisions.

At Family Law Service, Jess combines her innovative approach with her passion for clear, reassuring communication, ensuring clients receive practical solutions with compassion at the heart.

Rachel Adams
Lawyer

Rachel is head of Family Law at DFA Law LLP. She is recognised as a Leading Lawyer by Wiselaw, as well as being ranked for several years in Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500.

She is recognised as “an exceptional lawyer that goes above and beyond her duties and is very knowledgeable” in Chambers 2025, and praised as “a phenomenal legal adviser” in the 2025 Legal 500.

A specialist in financial remedy proceedings, Rachel has built her reputation on handling complex divorce settlements, high-value matrimonial assets, and intricate financial disputes.  Her expertise extends to pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements, civil partnerships, and disputes involving separating cohabitees, where she regularly advises clients on protecting their financial interests.

Rachel combines her technical legal expertise with a compassionate yet direct approach, ensuring clients receive clear, strategic advice. Her commitment to excellent personal service means clients feel supported and informed.

Emma is a family law specialist at DFA Law, one of Mediate UK’s trusted legal partners. With nearly two decades of experience in family law since 2006 and qualifying as a solicitor in 2012, Emma brings extensive expertise to complex family matters.

She specialises in all aspects of family law, including divorce proceedings, financial settlements, cohabitation matters, and domestic abuse cases. She has particular depth of knowledge in private law children matters, having successfully handled numerous complex cases involving child arrangements and welfare.

As a Resolution member and Law Society accredited Family Law specialist, Emma is committed to constructive, non-confrontational approaches to resolving family disputes.

She has served as a Domestic Abuse Champion for Oxfordshire since 2018.

As qualified McKenzie Friends with over 20 years of combined professional experience, they offer cost-effective legal support backed by both professional expertise and personal understanding of the family court process.

Karen brings 12 years of experience as an elected local councillor, where she directly assisted hundreds of constituents facing complex family law and financial difficulties. This frontline experience gave her extensive knowledge of the practical challenges families encounter when dealing with legal proceedings.

Karen is a qualified Listening Counsellor, trained in active listening techniques and emotional support skills. This qualification enhances her ability to understand clients’ needs during what is often the most stressful period of their lives, ensuring they feel heard and supported throughout the court process.

Lisa has over 20 years of professional experience in legal and civil matters, giving her substantial knowledge of court procedures, documentation requirements and case preparation. As a qualified McKenzie Friend and paid layperson, she has supported numerous clients through family court proceedings.

She specialises in helping clients understand complex legal processes and prepare thoroughly for hearings, reducing anxiety and improving outcomes through proper preparation.

Lee Simons
Law Practitioner

Lee is a family law practitioner based in the South East, specialising in supporting litigants in person through the family court system. With over five years of family law experience and a 30-year background in military and law enforcement service, he brings both legal expertise and practical, people-focused guidance.

Lee has personally attended hundreds of family court hearings, supporting clients through child arrangement applications, financial remedy proceedings, and enforcement matters. This extensive courtroom experience means he understands court expectations and how to help clients prepare and present their cases effectively.

Before establishing his own practice, Lee gained comprehensive family law training working alongside an established family law firm. He is currently undertaking his Chartered Legal Executive qualification, demonstrating his commitment to formal legal education and professional standards.

Lee’s approach combines legal knowledge with practical support, prioritising realistic outcomes that protect children’s interests whilst managing costs effectively. His philosophy is simple: family law is about people, their lives, and their futures.

Lucy is a qualified paralegal specialising in the preparation of consent orders and court documentation for financial remedy proceedings. With extensive experience in family law documentation, she has successfully prepared hundreds of consent orders that have been approved by the court, helping clients finalise their financial arrangements efficiently and accurately.

Lucy’s expertise covers all aspects of consent order preparation, including clean break orders, pension sharing orders, property transfer documentation, and supporting statements. She ensures every document meets court requirements and is presented in the correct format, significantly reducing the risk of rejection or delay.

Her meticulous approach to drafting has resulted in a high approval rate, with the vast majority of her consent orders approved at the first submission. Lucy works closely with clients to understand their agreements fully, translating these into legally sound documentation that judges can approve with confidence.
